François Zayas is a composer, arranger, and percussionist. Born in Cuba, Zayas graduated from the Instituto Superior de Artes (ISA) in 1998. He taught there both as a student and following graduation, for a total of four years. He was a member of the National Symphonic Orchestra of Cuba for ten years and during this time he also performed with numerous bands of diverse genres. Between 1994 and relocating to the U.S. in 2006, he completed several international tours with different groups. Since moving to the Philadelphia region nine years ago, he has collaborated on various projects with a diversity of musicians, choreographers, and educators, either as an instrumentalist, or as an arranger or composer.
